Does anyone on here have Stargardt's disease which is a form of juvenile macular degeneration? It can have loss of central vision and even vision drops. I have a friend who has it and was just wondering if anyone else had it.

I do. Actually, it's not that it can include vision drops - your vision will drop. Since everyone has a somewhat different pattern of rretinal damage from Stargardt's, there are a few exceptional cases where someone retains a piece of their central vision that is actually good for something like reading print. But that's very atypical. If your friend doesn't have vision loss yet, it's because the majority of people with Stargardt's don't lose significant enough vision for it to be diagnosed until adolesence - anywhere between ages ten and eighteen, so, assuming she is around your age, it's still pretty new for her.

Why. Does she want to make a connection around it?
